What's in a real epoxy quote
A proper epoxy floor is four to five layers of work, and the price reflects which layers your contractor is doing.
- Diamond grinding the concrete to bare profile (essential: without it, epoxy peels)
- Crack and joint repair
- Penetrating epoxy primer
- Two-pack epoxy basecoat
- UV-stable polyurethane topcoat (essential for any sunlight exposure)
Skip any of these and the cost drops, but so does the lifespan.

Red flags in cheap quotes
"Acid etch" instead of diamond grinding. "One-coat epoxy" only. No mention of primer or topcoat. A firm price from someone who hasn't seen the slab, in person or in photos. All of these mean the quote will not deliver what most people expect.
