Water droplets beading on freshly sealed limestone in Melbourne by Claraseal

Quick facts

Stone sealing in Melbourne typically costs $15–$45 per m² and lasts 3–7 years depending on stone type and exposure. Penetrating sealers on indoor floors last up to 7+ years; pool surrounds in full sun typically need re-sealing every 2–3 years. Claraseal uses premium penetrating (impregnating) sealers that bond inside the stone — not topical waxes that sit on the surface and peel.

What it is

The work, simply.

We deep-clean your natural stone to remove embedded grime, then apply a premium penetrating sealer. The sealer bonds inside the pores of the stone. Invisible on the surface, waterproof underneath.

Best for

  • Outdoor stone paving (limestone, travertine, bluestone, granite)
  • Pool surrounds and coping
  • Driveways and pathways
  • Indoor floors and walls
  • Fireplaces and feature walls
  • Stone benchtops and splashbacks

Our process

How we deliver this.

  1. 01

    Assess & test

We test the stone's porosity and existing finish, then recommend the right sealer chemistry: penetrating, enhancing, or topical.

  2. 02

    Deep clean

Industrial alkaline cleaners, hot-water extraction, and surface neutralising. We remove years of grime, organic staining, and old failed sealers.

  3. 03

    Seal in coats

Two to three coats of premium sealer applied wet-on-wet. Penetrates deep, bonds chemically with the stone, and dries invisible.

  4. 04

    Cure & verify

Surface cures for 24-72 hours then we test water-beading on site. We don't leave until the seal is perfect.

FAQs

Sealing questions, answered.

Will sealing change how my stone looks?
Penetrating sealers don't change the appearance. Your stone looks identical, just protected. Enhancing sealers (optional) deepen the colour slightly, like wetting the stone. We always show you both options before sealing.
How long does the sealer last?
Indoor floors: 5–7 years. Outdoor patios and driveways: 3–5 years. Pool surrounds: 2–4 years (chlorine is harsh). We schedule maintenance reminders so it's never a guess.
Can you seal stone that already has a sealer on it?
Yes. We strip the old sealer first, then re-seal. Old failed sealers are usually why stone looks patchy or stained. We restore it back to bare stone, then apply the right product.
Do you work on outdoor pool areas?
Yes. Pool surrounds are one of our specialties. We use UV-stable, chlorine-resistant sealers built for the Melbourne climate. The water beading on freshly sealed stone is unmistakable.
